We are reopening our doors Friday, May 15, 2020

Destrehan Plantation will reopen its doors to the public beginning Friday, May 15, 2020. Our business hours are 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. With our reopening, we have implemented some new procedures to help protect both our guests and employees from the current COVID health crisis. Our staff will be wearing masks. Guests are required to wear a mask inside of the gift shop and main house. Guests will not be required to wear mask while walking the grounds. Our guided tours will consist of no more than 10 people at a time. This includes the guide. Hand sanitizer will be available to the public near the registers in our gift shop. We will regularly disinfect areas of touch such as railings, bannisters, door knobs and bathroom facilities, etc. We look forward to seeing you!  Read More »

The Plantation is closed due to COVID-19 until further notice

In the best interest of employee and public safety, Destrehan Plantation will temporarily close starting Wednesday, March 18th and remain closed until further notice. This includes all tours, the gift shop and the Mule Barn venue. The Marie Celeste and Marguerite cottages will remain open to those needing accommodations. We will continue to monitor COVID-19 and follow CDC recommendations. Please check our website for weekly updates on our status. DESTREHAN PLANTATION REMAINS OPEN FOR BUSINESS! Destrehan Plantation continues to monitor the information regarding the Corona Virus Pandemic. Destrehan Plantation remains open for business seven days a week from 9:00am to 5:30 pm. We are taking additional steps to ensure the well being of our guests. We are limiting tour group sizes to no more than 8 people.  We are disinfecting high traffic areas periodically throughout the day. Heritage Weekend – May 1st, 2nd, and 3rd 2020

Through music, dance, demonstrations, exhibits, and hands-on activities, Destrehan Plantation takes a look back at the 19th century in south Louisiana during Heritage Weekend on Friday, May 1st through Sunday, May 3rd, 2020.   Heritage Weekend offers period music by Kitchen Session, Reaux, Roscoe, and Abadie and James Linden Hogg, dancing by the Feliciana Vintage Dancers, Nkiruka Drum and Dance Ensemble, and singing of sea songs with the NO Quarter Shanty Krew. The War of 1812 and the Civil War are recalled through re-enactors in period attire and battle re-enactments.    Visitors may engage in hands-on activities such as making butter, candies, and church dolls and create original art under the guidance of the St. Charles Art Guild. Numerous exhibits/demonstrations on topics such as open-hearth cooking, needlework, spinning, indigo dying, tignon-making, the 1811 Slave Revolt, voodoo, Native Americans, antique irons and old time toys create a sense of 19th century… Read More »
