The charming Creole cottages at Destrehan Plantation were named to honor two women who once lived here. Marie Celeste was the daughter of the original owner of the plantation. She went on to marry a Destrehan. Marguerite was an enslaved cook and laundress who lived here with her two children, Charlo and Noel. You can learn more about both of these amazing women on the tour that is included with your stay. We invite you to check-in and unpack a little history. Keep in mind both cottages are located just 25 minutes from New Orleans and along the Great River Road where you can tour more grand homes.
All proceeds from cottage rentals go to the restoration and preservation of Destrehan Plantation and its dependency buildings.
Marie Celeste
The Marie Celeste cottage has a vintage charm with modern-day conveniences. The Marie Celeste sleeps a maximum of six people and is handicap accessible. The cottage is easily accessible off of River Road, and the parking is free and limited to three (3) vehicles. The master suite includes a king-size bed, private bath, and dressing area. The living area includes two queen size sofa beds with memory foam mattresses and a dining area that seats four. There is a small kitchenette with a microwave, coffee pot, refrigerator/freezer, tableware, glassware, and eating utensils. There is an additional bathroom with a walk-in shower. We provide the bed, bath, kitchen linens, coffee with cream and sugar, and bottled water. Those of you who stay at the Marie Celeste receive a tour of the plantation at a discounted rate of $12.00 per person! Check-in time is 3:00 pm and check-out time is 10:00 am.
Marguerite
The Marguerite cottage has a rustic charm and sleeps a maximum of two (2) people. The cottage is easily accessible off of River Road, and the parking is free and limited to two (2) vehicles. It has a large bedroom/sitting area furnished with a king-size bed, flat-screen TV, seating area, and armoire. The kitchenette includes a microwave, refrigerator, and an old-time galvanized bucket sink. The bathroom is equipped with a sink/vanity and claw foot tub with a shower. We provide the bed, bath, kitchen linens, and basic household items. Those of you who stay in the Marguerite receive a tour of the plantation at a discounted rate of $12.00 per person! Check-in time is 3:00 pm and check-out time is 10:00 am.
