How far away are you from New Orleans?

We are approximately 25 minutes away from downtown New Orleans.

What are the hours?

9:00 am to 4:30 pm Mon - Thur & 10:00 am to 5:30 pm Fri - Sun.

How long is the tour?

The guided tour is approximately forty-five minutes. The folk-life demonstration takes about 15 minutes, and exploring the exhibits and grounds takes an additional 15 minutes.

Do we need a reservation?

Only a group of 20 or more people require a reservation. See Group Tours for more information. 

Where do I buy a ticket for the tour?

You can buy a ticket online or at the Gift Shop.

When do the tours leave?

Our first tour begins at 9:30 am, the second at 10:00 am, then every hour after. The last tour of the day Mon - Thur is 3:00 pm and the grounds and gift shop close at 4:30 pm. The last tour of the day Fri - Sun is 4:00 pm and the grounds and gift shop close at 5:30 pm. 

Can we take pictures during the tour?

Yes, as long as you do not delay the tour.

Can we audio and videotape the tour?

No. We prohibit audio and videotaping during guided tours.

If I just want to walk the grounds and not take the tour, do I need to purchase a ticket?

Yes. The cost for walking the grounds is the same as the admission fee.

Do you allow pets on the tour?

We do not allow pets on tour. However, we allow service animals or seeing-eye dogs on tour. 

Can we smoke on the grounds?

There are designated smoking areas on the grounds. Smoking is prohibited in all buildings.

Do you allow scooters inside the plantation?

Scooters are prohibited inside the plantation. You make take your scooter on the carriageway or gallery, but you cannot take your scooter inside the plantation.

Can I take school, graduation, or special event pictures on the grounds?

Yes. A reservation is required in advance for taking pictures on the grounds. The cost for taking pictures on the grounds is the same as the admission cost per person. You are prohibited from going inside any of the buildings.

Can we dine at your plantation?

No. There is no restaurant at the plantation.

Where can we get a bite to eat before or after the tour?

There are several places you can eat in St. Charles Parish. We recommend Port Side Restaurant (985) 469-3111, Ormond Plantation (985) 764-8544, and The Seafood Pot (985) 725-0053 to name a few.

How far away is the plantation from the New Orleans International Airport?

We are approximately 10 minutes away from the airport.

We are leaving today and would like to take your tour before we head to the airport, can we leave our luggage with you while we tour?

Yes, you may leave your luggage in our gift shop office.

Do we have to book online or can we purchase tickets when we arrive?

You may purchase your ticket in the gift shop when you arrive.

I booked a tour for a (specific) time; however, I am stuck in traffic, can I take the next available tour?

Yes, your ticket is valid all day long.
